Tournament Sanctioning Policy
As Esports tournaments and events become increasingly more common throughout Malta, The Malta Esports Association, more commonly abbreviated to MESA, has seen the need to introduce a sanctioning policy from their end, to elevate the standards of these events. The organisation will be conducting its own checks on tournaments to determine whether they reach the level of standards that it feels comfortable endorsing.
What does this mean?
From a tournament organiser’s perspective, you may approach MESA in order to request your tournament and/or event be endorsed by the organisation to adequately prove your standard as a tournament and/or event host. This conveys prestige, since MESA is THE unifying body of Esports here in Malta and also enforces conformity with its checks. The endorsed tournaments and/or events will also be promoted by MESA on their socials and will form part of the Malta Esports Association National Circuit.
From a competitor’s perspective, you may rest easy any time you see the MESA logo displayed on any tournament, knowing there is a level of standards and safety accompanying that particular event. You shall, additionally, also be enrolled into the Malta Esports Association’s Athlete Membership
programme for free. You may read more on the benefits of this membership here.
Rules & Regulations
The regulations imposed include transparency obligations, age restrictions, availability of information, availability of independent and impartial referees, applicability of the WADA code and data reporting.
