Event Overview
Since MCL stopped last October, it had been a while since a CS2 tournament took place in Malta. In spite of that, there was still a good turnout for Esport Plaza’s event. With four teams registered, the Project EVERSIO Mix was the favourite to win the whole event based on the average team elo. The opening matches went the way one would expect, EVERSIO with a victory, albeit in a hard-fought overtime, taking Anubis 16 – 12 against AMG Peak and Team Nahoy with a dominant 13 – 2 victory against Barges Brazil. Following this up was a quick 13 – 5 vs Team Nahoy that would see EVERSIO comfortably book their spot in the final.
Over in the lower bracket, AMG Peek would start their resurgence, a quick 13 – 4 victory would see them eliminate Barger Brazil in last place and set up a BO1 Lower Bracket final against Team Nahoy. The match would proved to be a tough one for both teams, with double overtime required before AMG Peek scraped ahead to a 19 – 15 victory setting up a rematch with EVERSIO in the grand finals.
As EVRSIO progressed flawlessly through the upper bracket, they would start the final series 1 – 0. This meant AMG Peek would have to win two maps back-to-back to flip the series and secure victory. A tough task but the players on AMG Peek were more than up for it. Mirage would go the distance, requiring all 24 rounds before AMG Peek narrowly secured a 13 – 11 victory. With that map victory, the series was tied 1-1 and it was all to play for on Dust 2 for both teams. AMG Peek would have their revenge, winning the map 13 – 7 and with that, the whole event!

Counter-Strike is back!
We’re so glad to see that Counter-Strike is finally back on LAN in Malta. With EsportsPlaza promising more tournaments every month we can’t wait for the next one and hope that more teams will join!
