CSDE launching esports operations in Malta

Over the past couple of years, we have seen a growing number of esports organisations set up base in Malta. Following in the footsteps of FURIA and, more recently, Talon Esports, Club Stoic de Deportes Electrónicos (CSDE) is the latest organisation to land on the island. Through a “Project Malta” initiative, CSDE hopes to support the development of the local esports scene in addition to broadening their competitive reach!

A New Chapter

With an announcement about their arrival imminent, CSDE has expressed their dedication to assisting and fostering the local esports community.

This commitment includes plans to launch a gaming academy on the island. Through the academy, CSDE plans to foster talent development by offering seminars, coaching sessions, and training. Additionally, they will be forming new rosters in games such as League of Legends, composed of Malta-based players.

Expanding the Maltese Esports Scene

CSDE’s owner and founder, Aidan McLoughlin (AKA mcgl0ck), has stated that the organisation is taking a long-term approach to its Malta expansion. While their professional Counter-Strike roster cannot yet be relocated, CSDE is aiming to move the team to Malta by 2026.

In order to strengthen their integration into the Maltese community, the organisation plans to work with local businesses and other organisations to invest resources in the local esports scene.

CSDE’s academy will give aspiring esports players access to professional coaching and training, leading to new opportunities and experiences in Malta. The club’s ultimate goal is to elevate the competitive level of local talent while growing their own projects alongside the scene.

CSDE’s Professional Counter-Strike Roster!

While the organisation is broadening its focus across multiple games, its professional Counter-Strike team (HLTV page) remains at the heart of the organisation. The team features a mix of seasoned players with high-level experience in the Ukrainian and European Counter-Strike scenes:

  • Nikita “Hkta” Reva (Captain & IGL): Competed at two RMRs with B8 and played for professional Ukrainian teams such as Lazer Cats.
  • Oleksii “Wvfeun” Rudenko: Extensive professional experience in Ukraine.
  • Vadim “Rinji” Noskov: Played for several high-level Ukrainian teams.
  • Nikita “Mattloo” Vlasov: Competed at a high level within the Ukrainian esports circuit.
  • Sasha “krYtouS” Babinskiy: Played for notable teams, including Zotix, owned by popular Ukrainian streamer “Ink-Mate.”

In Ukraine, each player has participated at Tier 2 or Tier 1 levels, additionally, Hkta has also gained Tier 2 experience in Europe.

A Promising Future in Malta

By emphasising talent development and community involvement, CSDE’s relocation to Malta represents more than just an expansion. With plans to expand their rosters, set up an academy, and relocate their professional Counter-Strike squad, the organisation is poised to leave a lasting impression on the Maltese esports landscape.

As the organisation embarks on this new journey, esports enthusiasts in Malta can look forward to new prospects, more competitive play, and an increase in the esports on the island as a whole!
