Why Malta?
The official statement via TALON Esports’ LinkedIn highlights that the decision to open a base in Malta was due to the country’s “supportive business ecosystem, proactive government support, and exceptional quality of life for players and staff”. While the initial focus within Malta will be on team operations, TALON have also expressed interest in exploring opportunities in “academies, education, content creation, and other areas” which could play a big role in fostering local talent.
TALON’s Global Success and the Significance of a European Base
Since their founding in 2017, TALON have established themselves as a prominent player in the international esports scene, consistently qualifying for top-tier tournaments and partnering with major brands. Most notable of these are TALON’s League of Legends team, PSG.Talon (a collaboration with French football club Paris Saint-Germain), who are the most successful team in the Pacific Championship Series having won an unmatched eight titles since the league was established in 2019. Their success is not limited to just League of Legends, with their Dota 2 team regularly qualifying for The International, Dota’s flagship tournament, and their newly established Counter Strike roster playing in the closed qualifiers for the upcoming Shanghai Major.
We have chosen Malta as the country to establish our presence in Europe and provide a base for our squads who spend time in the region for boot camps and player development.

The establishment of TALON Esports’ European base in Malta signifies a crucial step in Malta’s goal of becoming a global esports powerhouse. Having already hosted major international esports events like the ESL Pro League on numerous occasions, and by attracting international esports organisations to establish permanent operations on the island, Malta has poised itself to foster a sustainable esports ecosystem, drawing in talent and events from around the world.
