During a stream on his hugely popular channel (1.2 million followers), Los Ratones owner Caedrel mused about where to locate a team house when someone suggested Malta.
Caedrel seemed to relish the idea, and both the conversation and Twitch chat quickly turned to Malta’s favourable tax rates and its openness to gambling sponsorships, while viewers spammed “POLICE”.

Malta & the NLC
Malta competes in the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC)—the same regional league in which Los Ratones play, and of which they are the reigning champions. Maltese player Miguel “Hido” Caruana was previously an NLC runner-up with Nord Esports.
Local team Project Eversio also competes in the UK Esports League, a lower division within the NLC system.
Malta & the Caedrel connection
Caedrel already has ties to Malta. In 2022, Level Academy, in collaboration with Kia, organised the Kia Malta LoL Series Qualifiers, enabling a Maltese line-up to face international amateur teams at the LEC Studio in Berlin. Caedrel cast the event—including several Malta qualifier matches—to thousands of viewers on his channel.
