Last weekend, Esports Plaza continued its commitment to Malta’s grassroots esports scene with an exciting League of Legends tournament. The event, held on March 2, saw four teams battling it out in a double-elimination format, with Project EVERSIO emerging as the champions.

Tournament overview

The tournament, aimed at fostering competition within the local LoL community, featured a €5 entry fee per player. Game time prizes were awarded to the top three teams, adding an extra layer of incentive for participants. The event not only provided players with a structured competitive environment but also reinforced Esports Plaza’s dedication to keeping the local esports scene active and engaging. With this in mind, how exactly did Project EVERSIO win the first ever Esports Plaza LoL event?

How did they do it?

Heading into the event, it was revealed that EVERSIO wouldn’t be playing with their main roster, due to their jungler, Brikkun, unable to attend. This paved the way for local contributor Yansin to step into his shoes and perform with the best players on the island. Yansin is already an experienced player and well versed with League of Legends, and was a perfect fit for the squad.

After the Round robin stage was concluded, it was between Project EVERSIO and the Maltese roster of Serving Kucks. Fair to say that it was a short Grand Final, as EVERSIO performed a a clean sweep for winning 3-0. One of the challenges EVERSIO highlighted was the use of a fearless draft solely appointed to them throughout this tournament. This meant that the team could not re-pick a champion that was used in a previous game. Not only did they do this seamlessly, but they also did this without losing a single game!

What’s next?

With this win, Project EVERSIO further solidifies their reputation as Malta’s top esports organization. They will be looking to continue this strong streak of wins in all the upcoming competitions in the first quarter of the year!

Looking ahead, Esports Plaza has hinted at more upcoming tournaments across different esports titles, giving players even more opportunities to compete. Stay tuned for future events as Esports Plaza continues to help nurture the local esports scene!
