Participating Teams
As mentioned above, the 2nd season of the European Development Championship Qualifier will feature 16 teams, which are some of the best Tier 2 squads in Europe. Some of these teams are: Lyngby Vikings, Tricked Esport, Nexus gaming, as well as Astralis’ Talent team.
Much like the previous edition of the event, Eden Esports allows one Maltese team to partake in their closed qualifier. And since Project Eversio have won the latest MNL event, they have received a direct invite to the qualifier.
Format for the EDC Season 2 Qualifier
The format follows a similar layout to the first season, as the teams will be split into 2 separate brackets. 8 teams in one, and 8 teams in the other, they will be taking each other on in a best of 3 format. One important thing to mention is that only 2 teams out of 16 will make it out of the qualifications to reach the main phase.
Where and how can I watch?
The event is going to kick off on the 21st of January at 10:00 CET and streamed on the official Eden Esports Twitch channel in English for most viewers. However, it will also be available in Russian, Polish, and Hungarian for all that are non-English speakers.
In the EDC Season 2 Qualifier, the competition is tighter, and with only 2 teams being allowed a spot it’s an even tougher task for Project Eversio. Last season they had a rough first match versus Winstrike. In that series, they lost both maps (16-6 & 16-9) and were eliminated from the tournament. This time round, they are facing off Lilmix, a solid Swedish team that is hungry for that qualification spot. We here at Esports Malta wish them luck in their upcoming event with hopes of putting Malta in the spotlight!
