Project Eversio Racing celebrated a remarkable achievement at the iRacing Sebring 12hr event, securing a 2nd-place finish in the LMP2 class. This was the team’s second-ever endurance race, marking a significant milestone for all those involved! Continue reading to know more about how they managed to do it!

Eversio Racing places 2nd in Sebring 12hr Race – How did they do it?

The team consisted of drivers Brandon Bonello, Mikhail Mercieca, and Jake Sammut, each racing for 4 hours. Eversio kicked off the race in 9th from a total of 15 cars on the grid and throughout the race they put heavy focus on consistency and teamwork, resulting in very minimal mistakes which allowed them to even challenge for P1!

Important to note that Eversio were racing in Split 3, and that there were over 14 splits in their time slot, meaning that it was a strong result in a very competitive field. As the lower the split, the higher the strength of field, making it tougher for those not-so-experienced competitors. For those that are familiar with iRacing, the strength of field (Average rating of all competing drivers) was 3097.

What’s so special about this achievement?

The Sebring 12 hour event is part of iRacing’s Special Event calendar, a series that replicates some of the world’s most prestigious motorsport races. As noted by iRacing, these events cater to a wide range of disciplines, from stock cars to sports cars, and are designed for both solo racers and teams. The Sebring 12 Hours, in particular, is a grueling test of endurance, strategy, and skill, following the season-opening Daytona 24 Hours.

The Sebring International Raceway, known for its bumpy and unforgiving layout, is a challenging venue even in the virtual world. The real-life race has a storied history as one of North America’s oldest and most prestigious endurance events, often compared to the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Daytona. The iRacing version mirrors this intensity, requiring teams to balance speed, reliability, and strategy over 12 hours of racing.

We reached out to the Eversio Racing squad, and this is what they had to say about their accomplishment:

We were extremely satisfied achieving this result, especially considering the amount of practice we have been putting in, alongside the fact that this was only our second endurance race as a team. When compared with the other drivers on the grid we have a big disadvantage when it comes to experience as we are still getting used to each other’s driving styles and habits. That being said we are very excited for what the future holds for us!

What car brought Eversio Racing Victory?

Project Eversio’s team piloted the Dallara P217, a Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) car built to 2017 FIA/ACO regulations. For our car enthusiastic readers, the Dallara P217 is powered by a 6.2L V8 GM small-block engine, developed by ECR Engines, producing 600 horsepower and paired with a 6-speed Xtrac transmission.

What’s next for Project Eversio Racing?

For a team in only their second endurance race, this podium finish is a testament to Project Eversio Racing’s preparation and teamwork. Fans of the team will be looking forward to see what Eversio racing will be competing in next!
