Awoke Temporarily Quitting Fortnite, Parting Ways With Tragedy

On the 1st of April, local Fortnite player Awoke announced that he is temporarily quitting Fortnite, and therefore, parting ways with Team Tragedy. Here’s everything you need to know:

Who is Awoke?

13-year-old Kane “Awoke” D’Amato (Soon to be 14) has been competing in Fortnite for about 9 months. He’s competed in a vast majority of Level Academy’s events throughout 2020-2021 and has gotten quite a couple of solid results. Because of these results, he was able to join Team Tragedy back in late February, but unfortunately that’s heading towards a pause for the time being.

Awoke Temporarily Quitting Fortnite, Parting Ways With Tragedy – Why?

The main reason for Awoke to announce his departure from Fortnite is because of the new season changing so much about the core aspects of the game. These changes stressed Awoke immensely, and led to his demotivation. Unfortunately, his demotion from Team Tragedy’s main team didn’t help his motivation either, although he states that it aided him to dream bigger and work harder. His final appearance before his break will be in the Level Academy Solo tournament, happening this week.

What’s next for Awoke?

With this break, I will start putting my focus on Warzone from a competitive standpoint, and School on a personal level. Due to Fortnite I didn’t manage to sort out all my day-to-day duties in time, not to mention that I don’t want to get addicted to Fortnite. After this break I am coming back better, with a stronger mindset and attitude! For me the most important thing is to enjoy myself while playing. Not being addicted but trying to achieve what I always wanted… Getting earnings in the game. It’s not going to be an easy process but when I come back, I can certainly achieve this dream of mine.

When can we expect him to return to the scene?

Esports Malta reached out to Kane, and he revealed that his current estimation for a return is around the middle of May. This will give enough time for the Fortnite Chapter Two, season six to ease out, and hopefully give Awoke a harder time. Many were surprised by this news, especially because Awoke announced it all on the traditional April Fools day. Along with Awoke temporarily quitting Fortnite, he will aslo switch to console for the time being. This is because he has lost connections with his old friends, and wants to regain that interaction.

We all know how stressful competitive gaming can be, especially if you’re constantly practicing tons of hours a day. We’re sure that with this temporary break, Kane will come back stronger than ever, taking the scene by storm!
