FNATIC’s VALORANT Team In Malta For Bootcamp

Fnatic's VALORANT Team In Malta For Bootcamp

Fnatic’s Valorant roster is a beautiful underdog story in the short while VALORANT esports has been around. Previously known as SUMN FC, the roster was one which was not picked up early on, as the likes of G2, Team Liquid, 100 Thieves and other tier 1 organisations quickly scrambled for the top performing squads in Europe and North America. SUMN were actually one of the teams that shined in the LAVA Series, organised by Malta’s own Level Academy, placing 2nd and 1st in Series 5 and Series 6 of the competition.

FNATIC’s Valorant Roster Recent State In VALORANT Events

Their big splash came in the first official VALORANT tournament, First Strike, placing 2nd in the competition after defeating FPX. They were then picked up by FNATIC, and have since been a top-performing European side. As the stakes rose dramatically higher with the VALORANT Champions Tour 2021 (VCT), together with the volatile nature of a nascent esports title, FNATIC have had a tough ride.

FNATIC failed to qualify to VCT Stage 1, as they were defeated by Wave Esports, FPX as well as Ballista Esports in the final hurdle of each of the Challenger events. However, their fortunes would change in Stage 2 of the competition. In Challengers 2, FNATIC went ballistic, defeating G2 Esports, Vitality and Team Liquid to secure €15,000, and a sport in the Challengers Finals. In the Challengers Finals, they went undefeated in their group and only placed 2nd to Team Liquid in the Grand Final, securing another €15,000 and a coveted slot in the first official LAN event in VALORANT esports, to be held in Reykjavik, Iceland towards the end of May.

FNATIC are one of the only two European teams in the competition, and they will be joined by the best eight teams from across the world, and they chose Malta as their bootcamp destination for the biggest competition of their lives so far!

The players have been putting out some photos of them in their Mellieha villa, and lounging on a boat, just before starting some hardcore training for Reykjavik.

Welcome to Malta, FNATIC!
