How did it go down?
Ecksdee was the combined roster of Adam “Adammo” Magri Overend, Aye Kay, and Daniel “Liquidity” Vella Clark. They started it all against The Howling Wolves, where they beat them 2-0 to move on to the 2nd round. Then they took on the fearsome Team Tragedy squad of Francesco “Logika” Scicluna, Ilai “Donut” Zammit Marmara, and Jake “Dupreme” Demanuele. This was a very close series and eventually led into a 2-1 scoreline, in favor of Ecksdee.
This progressed the Ecksdee squad into round 3 versus the talented Valid Unit roster. The defense was strong on both sides, but eventually, it was Ecksdee that pulled through with the win. After that match, they were into the Semifinals versus the newly introduced lineup of Elite Gaming. EG (along with Tragedy) gave this Ecksdee squad some trouble at the start, but it was Adammo and co that won the series.
Grand Finals
In the meantime, Team Tragedy had been climbing through the lower bracket, beating teams like DNEGEL, Valid Academy, as well as Valid Unit. Then they took on Elite Gaming to reach the Grand Finals. This series was very heated in the beginning, with Game 1 going towards Ecksdee, and Team Tragedy replying with a win of their own in Game 2. The 3rd game went in favor of Ecksdee 4-1, and for a second time, Tragedy tied the series with a 2-1 win in Game 4. To show how close this Grand final was, Game 5 went into a 2-2 overtime, benefitting the Ecksdee lineup as Liquidity scored the final goal. Here is how it all ended:
Concluding Thoughts
This was certainly an exciting tournament to watch, and for Ecskdee to win the Easter Eggstravaganza Rocket League Tournament, it goes to show how many talented teams there are on the island. With the Rocket League scene being extremely active in 2021, we here at Esports Malta cannot wait for future tournaments to come sooner!
