Justin Mifsud – Who is he?
Justin is one of the main figures when it comes to the sim-racing scene in Maltese esports. He is World Pro Racing’s Founder-CEO and has also hosted the show Esports+. In this show, he would conduct multiple interviews with other figures in the space to help the people on the island know more about esports as a whole. If you’d like to watch the show, most episodes are uploaded on their YouTube channel.
The Cause & The Challenge
This is not the first time that a local esports figure has opted to organise a fundraiser for a charity or cause. Thankfully as an esports community we are fortunate enough to have very giving personalities, and we’ve also covered this over on Esports Malta. This time around, Justin will be racing in aid of the Putting Cares Foundation, an entity familiar to many of those living in Malta. World Pro Racing will be hosting five 24-hour solo endurance races for Justin, and all other participants to help raise funds for the foundation.
Here’s what he had to say regarding the races:
In addition to raising funds, these races are also meant to demonstrate the dedication, commitment, and the physical and mental training required to undertake such a challenge, even in esports. Many people think that sim racing involves just sitting and competing without much effort. Far from that! The level of preparation needed rivals that of traditional sports. The stamina, focus, and discipline required to race for 24 hours straight are immense, showcasing that esports athletes are just as dedicated and hardworking as their counterparts in other sports.

Racing
To participate in the event, teams of 2-5 drivers are allowed. WPR specifies that no specific criteria of driver is required to enter, so if you’re an amateur or you’ve just started sim-racing, this is a perfect event to kick-start that. The race will be held on the iRacing platform using the GT3 class. If you do not own the game iRacing, you are able to register of WPR’s website and pay a 15eur fee which allows you to become a member with the Malta Motorsport Federation, providing you with an iRacing key for a year’s worth membership. Then all you need to do is purchase the vehicle you desire to race with, and the track to be used in the initial race.
For more information options on how to donate or on how to participate, you can check out WPR’s official page here.
When and Where?
According to Justin’s post, the first event will be hosted on the 7th of September, with qualifications kicking off at 12:00pm, and the race following it at 1:00pm. This will keep on going till the next day, Sunday 8th ending it all at 1:00pm, hence completing the 24-hour endurance race.
