BOV ePremier League 2021 Viewer's Guide

The BOV ePremier League is on the horizon, and we can’t wait to see our local talents compete in the biggest FIFA event yet! Here’s our preview of the entire event.

Quick Rundown Of The Tournament Format

All 16 participants are to be split into 4 groups, where each group consists of 4 players. Here, each player will take on the other players on 2 legs using the seeding to form the bracket. After that, all 16 players slowly progress through the single-elimination playoffs. The winner of the Grand Finals is crowned as BOV ePremier League Champion!

Prize pool to be won is of €3,500 being split as follows:

  • 1st – €1,500
  • 2nd – €750
  • 3rd – €400
  • 4th – €250
  • 5th-8th – €150

Players Representing Local Clubs

As per tradition, the 16 participants of the BOV ePremier League for 2021 have been elected to represent a few of our local BOV Premier League teams. If you’ve been paying attention to their socials you’ve already got an idea of who’s representing who. But if you haven’t, here’s a list showing which player is representing which club (sorted by group):

Group A

  • Brandon Galea – Gzira United FC
  • Dunstan Vella – Hibernians FC
  • Shaun Dimech – Valletta FC
  • Michael Owen Micallef – Floriana FC

Group B

  • Shaun Galea – Hamrun Spartans FC
  • Luke Bartolo – Sliema Wanderers FC
  • Ryan Galea – Birkirkara FC
  • Alessandro Ebejer – Lija Athletic FC

Group C

  • Ryan Cauchi – Tarxien Rainbows FC
  • Gianluca Sant – Zejtun Corinthians FC
  • Kyle Calleja – Sirens FC
  • Leon Vella – Mosta FC

Group D

  • Christian Spiteri – Santa Lucia FC
  • Isaac Kyle Grima – Balzan FC
  • Kursten Sciberras – Gudja United FC
  • Owen Galea – Senglea Athletic FC

As can be seen above, there are quite a couple of similarities from last year’s edition. Former champion Christian Spiteri is staying with Santa Lucia. Brandsha, Dunstan, Mizu and a couple of others have followed his footsteps. On the other hand, Turbuleense is now representing Zejtun Corinthians, and Shaun Dimech is taking his place on Valletta FC.

Where and How To Watch the event

The tournament is to play out between the months of April and May. The first date schedule is the 7th of April, starting at about 7pm. To watch the event, you can head over to the official BOV ePremier League Facebook page, as well as their Twitch channel. Here below is the schedule list for the entire event:

Group Stage

  • 7th April @ 7pm – Group D
  • 14th April @ 7pm – Group C
  • 21st April @ 7pm – Group B
  • 28th April @ 7pm – Group A

Playoffs

  • 5th May @ 7pm – Round of 16
  • 12th May @ 7pm – Quarterfinals
  • Semifinals – TBD
  • Grand Finals- TBD

Broadcast Features for the BOV ePremier League 2021

As recently announced, the main hosts for the event will be none other than Vibe FM’s well known Nate Darmanin, Frank Zammit, and Valentina Rossi. With their amazing personalities, the tournament broadcast will certainly be a blast to watch.
