Project Eversio Win SAFE Series: Rocket League Tournament

As you may know, this Saturday the SAFE Series: Level Academy Duos Rocket League Tournament took place. Here we saw 32 teams battle it out on multiple arenas to figure out which duo is the best on the island. However, as expected, Project Eversio came out victorious and took the win. Read on to know how it all went down:

Match Briefing – The Bracket

For this event, Project Eversio was represented by Bungy and Vella999 due to the event being in a Duo’s format. They first played team Nexus, which they beat in both games, (2-1 & 5-2) to progress to the next stage. Then came Valid Unit, which was expected to be a much tougher opponent for Eversio. Unfortunately for Valid, Bungy and Vella999’s defense was too strong. They ended up losing the first game 6-0, and the second game 6-3. Definitely a crushing defeat, but the blues were too strong.

Elite Gaming was the next opponent for Project Eversio. Here they won 8-2 in the first game, and 3-2 in the second game. This victory got them into the semi-finals of the upper bracket versus Small island. This seemed like it was going to head towards an upset in favour of Small Island, however they only managed to win 1 game out of 5, and Eversio advanced to the winner’s final.

Here they were up against Halal FC, made up of ex-player for Project Eversio, Porry, and ex-Anarchy member JayJay (also known as JoelanJr). Unfortunately for Halal, they did not have much success in this best of 5, as Bungy and Vella999 took the 3-0 win with ease.

Grand Finals

This win progressed them into the grand finals where they would meet and rematch team Small Island. The series followed a similar conclusion to their initial match, as the grand final ended in a 3-1 for Project Eversio. Here’s is how the final match ended:

Bungy and Vella999 had quite a pleasant evening as they struck past a majority of the Maltese teams in dominant fashion. Only one team was able to give them a slight challenge, and that was team Small Island. A combination of two mechanically skilled players, Adammo and Jake.

Rocket League definitely has potential when it comes to the local scene here in Malta. With the game recently becoming ‘Free To Play’, the game has gotten extremely popular, especially amongst young teenagers. In fact, players from the Fortnite scene have switched over to Rocket League to pursue a career in a game where acrobatic, rocket powered cars are the main characters of the esport.

We look forward to more Rocket League events in the future, so be sure to keep yourself updated on all the local esports news on www.esportsmalta.mt
